Any citizen may speak to the council. There are three ways this can happen:
- In each meeting there is time allocated for citizen presentations. Anyone may speak to the council for up to 2 (two) minutes, but the item may not be discussed by the Council, and no action can be taken. In other words there can be no vote on this type of presentation. Presentations will be recorded in the meeting minutes, but they will not be verbatim.
- Anyone can submit a written request to the City Manager for an item they want placed on an upcoming agenda. Requests must be submitted by noon on Monday a week before the monthly meeting takes place. The city manager may at his/her discretion either place the item on the agenda or deny the request, but in either case the requestor will be notified, usually by e-mail. The preferred means of communication is e-mail (info@cityofsanaugustinetx.gov), but handwritten is acceptable to delivered to City Hall, Attn: City Manager. Please include full name, address and contact information.
- Lastly, an item will be placed on the agenda at the request of any two sitting Alderman. Again, requests must be submitted by noon on Monday a week before the monthly meeting takes place, so the Aldermen will need additional notice from a requestor.
