Please see the link below in regards to a survey regarding how we can best augment flood management practices in Texas coastal communities. Many of our residents have been impacted over the past 5 years secondary to flooding and this is a great opportunity to share our input.

Study Title: A Hybrid Decision Support System for Driving Resiliency in Texas Coastal Communities

Investigator: Dr. Amir Behzadan (Construction Science), Dr. Courtney Thompson (Geography), Dr. Zhe Zhang (Geography), Dr. Michelle Meyer (Hazard Reduction and Recovery Center)

Sponsored By: Texas Sea Grant Program (NOAA)

Institutional Review Board (IRB) Approval: IRB2019-1506

Approval date: January 22, 2020

The goal this project is to augment flood management practices in Texas coastal communities through citizen science, artificial intelligence, decision science, and cyberinfrastructure. We plan to create a system to take crowdsourced photos, calculate location-specific flood risk, and estimate floodwater depth at the street-level. Generated data is incorporated in a spatial decision support system (SDSS) to assist in decision-making and flood mitigation.

This study is conducted at Texas A&M University under award NA18OAR4170088 from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), U.S. Department of Commerce.
